Question Category : Skin problems
My son is 6 years old, and for the past 2 summers we have been unable to clear up what seems to be a seasonal problem(summer). His fingers and toes dry out, peel and crack to the point of bleeding. They almost look like they have been scolded and then it gets progressively worse. It is very painful for him. We kept him out of the swimming pool, monitored and charted what he eats and drinks, to see if we could determine to source of the problem, but no luck. We have used prescription lotions and ointments but no luck, I have even tried tea tree ointment and emu oil and still nothing helps. I'm at the end of my ropes,he wears band-aids with ointment on the bad fingers and toes but still this does not seem to even come close to solving the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I feel so bad for him.

My son is almost 2 years old. He is healthy in every way except when people see him they always tell me that he looks pale. I don't know what to do because all his check-ups have been perfect and the pediatrician never told me he looked pale. If you could tell me if this is normal,I would really appreciate it.Thank you.

Question Category : Skin problems
My daughter-in-law is worried about her son aged 16 months who has developed "orange" coloured skin on his hands and also an orange tinge to his facial skin. She reports this seems to come and go. His natural colouring is slightly "carroty" though he does not have much hair yet. This does not appear to be the usual yellow of jaundice but we are nonetheless worried. He is normal in every other way and full of energy eating well etc. He has been prescribed antibiotics on a number of occasions for ear infections. Can you suggest if this is abnormal and if we should have him checked out?
Question Category : Skin problems
We noticed what appears to be light colored "peach fuzz" hair on our 11 month old daughter's vagina several months ago (if extended the hairs can be 1/2 inch or so). It hasn't gone away, nor has it increased. We asked our pediatrician about it and he seemed surprised by it, but not overly concerned. Have you ever heard of this and should we be concerned?
Question Category : Skin problems
My older sister has a 10 week old baby. Since she was born she developed a round bump on the top of her right eye, a little below the brow. It has grown bigger and bigger but is know the size of a small golf ball. She is a very contented baby and her field of vision is ok & is being checked often. Since she is so young they can not operate on her. The first diagnosis we got was that it was a non malignant capillary haemangoma- but they would not drain the fluid unless her field of vision was going. My sister recently went to the hospital and has now been told it is a vascular lesion which will not go down for about five years. My sister and I are very upset as we want to know if the baby girl will be ok. Is this normal? Can it turn malignant ? How often to babies get this? Please can you help.Kind regards.
Question Category : Skin problems
I have a 6 year old with what appears to be a blood blister on her chest. I noticed it a few days ago and it was about the size of the head of a pin. It's grown slightly over the last day or so to the size of a maybe a couple heads of a pin. I'm not aware of any injury that she may have received to cause this. Can they be caused by anything other than an injury and how can I be sure that it is indeed a blood blister? Is that something I should make an immediate appt. at the doctor or is that something than can be watched and at what time should the concern be elevated? Is it possible that it is anything other than a blood blister?
