Question Category : Raynauds Phenomenon
My healthy 9 yr old son plays ice hockey. When practice lasts more than an hour his feet turn bright red, become ice cold, and are very painful. We've changed skates, socks, to no avail. None of his teammates seem to have this problem. Could he have have a medical condition?
Question Category : Raynauds Phenomenon
My question is about my four year old daughter. When the weather gets cold outside and she is outside at all the tops of her hands to the first knuckles on her fingers and the tops of her feet get severely chapped. She had been fine up until today when she went outside to play during the day at the babysitter's. The high here (in Missouri on Jan. 4)was about 44 degrees which is definitely warm enough for her to play outside. She did have socks and tennis shoes, a coat, and gloves on. I have tried handlotions on her, baby lotion, Avon Moisture Therapy for extremely dry skin and she cried that those made her skin burn. The only thing that I have found that helps at all is either cornhuskers, vaseline, or shortening but that only makes it where it doesn't crack and bleed. It doesn't get rid of the chapped part. I haven't taken her to the doctor for it yet because it only happens when her skin gets cold. If you might know what this could be or have any suggestions on how to treat it please let me know. It kind of looks like this well be an ongoing thing for us. Thanks so much in advance for your help!!
