DIAGNOSTIC DILEMMA

Pediatric Oncall

A 5 month old girl presented with titubation and left focal convulsion since 15 days. She has stridor since 1 month of age. The child had normal milestones till date but was now not recognizing parents. MRI brain is normal. What is the diagnosis?

Saeedelsadek: A 3 year old child presented to me with a prolonged non febrile seizure. He received 3 doses of diazepam and was still fitting, therefore I gave a stat dose of phenytoin 15 mg/kg after which seizure stopped. He was maintained on phenytoin 5 mg/kg/day. Should he be kept on phenytoin after discharge and for how long?
